GOOD NEWS from Mike & Angie
Townshend has been awarded a substantial amount of funding from the Community Network Panel 2019/2020 for highway improvements to address the speed issues.
A massive thank you to all who over the years made numerous calls and emails to the various authorities highlighting our problem. A big shout out to those who parked their vehicles on the road and gave “words of wisdom” to speeding drivers. Well done to the guerrilla 30mph signers. Thank you to Cllr Jenkin who persuaded the parish council that Townshend should be the chosen village and then submitted a successful bid. Every bit has helped.
Community Speed Watch
For those of you not aware of what this is, basically it needs a pool of people who whenever they have a spare hour will monitor the speed of vehicles through the village, the details of vehicle travelling at excessive speed are passed to the police who then deal with the matter accordingly. It does not require any contact or confrontation with drivers.
If you think this is something you would like to help with please drop me an email, text or call, once I have some names I will chase up the police and arrange the necessary training to get this in place. firstname.lastname@example.org (07977 948158)
Stay safe everyone and keep up the good work.
It will also help to keep Councillor Jenkin informed of any anti-social driving or near miss that you witness.
Keep up the reporting and the guerrilla 30mph signs.
REMEMBER TO TAKE EXTREME CARE WHEN PULLING OUT OF YOUR DRIVEWAY ONTO THIS ROAD
